Clear Scraps Project Post

Hi everyone! Wendy here sharing a fall layout today.  

We've used the Mascils with inks, paints, embossing pastes…but how about as a cutting pattern? Before I had a diecutting machine, I used to love fussy cutting designs out for my layouts. I decided I wanted the birch trees in the Trees Mascil be white with pattern paper in the background. In order to create that effect, I had to cut out the trees. Laying the Mascil down on the cardstock, trace the stencil completely. Using an exacto knife cut out the design. I didn't cut out the spots on the tree trunks, but instead used them as markers showing me where to add color. 

I colored the birch trees in with copics and water color pencils. I added SEI Diecut leaves to complete the birch tree look. 

I really wanted to color the Deco Top Frame copper to match my SEI Diecut leaves. Only problem…no copper paint. Instead I used gold acrylic paint and mixed a bit of Orange Crush Glimmer Glaze together. It gave me the perfect color with a bit of shimmer, while allowing the tree background to show through. 

All that was left to do was add a bit of journaling, twine and a sentiment.
