Hello! It's Jennifer on the blog today and I'm happy to share one of the fun 12×12 Acrylic Layouts today! Clear Scraps offers 21 different styles of Acrylic Layouts so its easy to find the perfect one for your project! I used the Butterflies 12×12 Acrylic Layout and have a tutorial to show you how I colored my acrylic.
Alcohol ink is the easiest way to color Clear Scraps acrylic because it is solvent based and will "adhere" to the non-porous surface. Plus, it dries quickly! I used Ranger Alcohol Ink in Magenta and applied to only the butterflies of the layout.
Next, I added in drops of Ranger Snow Cap White Mixative to random spots on the acrylic. And sometimes, your end result isn't what you think it will be! LOL I wanted to mute the pink a little more and unfortunately the White Mixative didn't do the trick. So, I added a little Alcohol Ink in Butterscotch to a cotton applicator and lightly applied over the butterflies. This helped to blend the colors as well as lighten the pink!
Here is the end result of my coloring! It goes to show that a little experimenting goes a long way! 🙂
I backed my Acrylic Layout with a patterned paper as well as adhered strips of patterned paper to the edges. An easy way to trim excess paper is with an exacto knife and healing mat. Also, a little sanding helps too!
I affixed die cut and chipboard butterfly embellishments from the collection I used to accent my page! This Acrylic Layout has two open spaces for 4×6 photos as well as a 4×4 slot. A nice thing about the Acrylic Layouts is that you can flip them to fit the photos you want to use! I reserved my 4×4 spot for my title and additional embellishments!
Thank you for stopping by! I hope this inspires you do create with the 12×12 Acrylic Layouts! Have a great day!
