Wood Cupcake card

Leah here with you today to share these super cool brand new Birch Wood Cards.

Today I'm sharing the Wood Cupcake Card.

I started off by using some pattern paper and placing it on the backside of the cupcake cut out.

Now you can take paint, or in this case, Distress Oxide to apply color to the wood. On the backside, I just applied the Oxide all around the edges of the card, as I will be applying pattern paper to cover up those two squares shown above.

While that dries, we'll add color to the rest of the wood panels.
I started off by just rubbing the oxide along the edges of the wood panel. Once I applied a fair amount of ink, I then took a wet baby wipe to help move the color around to towards the center of the card.

This allowed it to blend without covering up the wood grain I wanted to show through.
Once that dried, I went around the edge of the panel to add more depth of color.

Next, we'll add some pattern paper to the inside card panels. I also placed a large flower die-cut and only glued down the bottom left corner so a gift card or note would easily slip right in there for gift giving.

I used twine to attach the two card panels together. I cut two strips about 4" each then folded them in half. Using a Tim Holtz Tiny attacher, it staples perfectly without going all the way through the wood.

Once you have both attached to the front, sit the top panel onto the bottom panel, hold the card in place and flip it over, as shown in the last photo above, you will want to have enough room for the card to close and then staple the twine to secure it. I used two staples on the back.

There you have it. Embellish til your heart's content.
