Hello and happy Friday! It's Jennifer to share a home decor project I created with some of the new Clear Scraps products! I love working with the Medium Pallet Shapes and new Stencils!
Starting with the Plaque Medium DIY Pallet Shape, I applied brown acrylic paint to the surface. Adding a bit of water to your paint will result in a faux stain finish as the birch wood accepts the paint nicely!
Here is the end result of the paint/water technique! I love the look of it as well as how the grain of the wood is highlighted!
I wanted to add a little bit of accent to my pallet with the 4×6 Butterfly Flock Stencil. I lined it up underneath the Farmhouse Stencil to ensure I would not overlap my images. Using some washi tape from my stash helped to block off the area I wanted to use.
With a small spatula, I applied a light coat of modeling paste to both sides of my pallet. You can allow to air dry or using a heat gun will hurry things along.
Once my paste was dry, I applied yellow Distress Oxide ink to the surface. I allowed some of the white of the modeling paste to show through as well.
Here is the end result of the modeling paste and stencil. It isn't perfect but I think when using mixed media it doesn't have to be!
Lastly, I secured my Amazing Grace Farmhouse Stencil to the front the pallet with washi tape. Using a foam paint brush I carefully applied black acrylic paint using a "dabbing" motion. I wanted to be sure I did not have bleeding underneath my stencil. I admit I wasn't thrilled with how my painting turned out but sometimes its trial and error.
I also added hand punched butterflies to accent my pallet using both patterned paper and vellum. I then used my hole punch at the top left and right panels of the pallet so I could add a fun buffalo plaid ribbon to hang my creation!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Hope this inspires you to work with some of the new Pallet Shapes and stencils! Have a great day!
