Hello! Summer is officially here which means warm weather and vacations! Today I'm sharing one of the Wood XL Word Frames that are perfect for home decor! For my project, I used the Beach Wood XL Word Frame and I'm going to show you a tutorial on how I achieved my end result!
All Wood XL Word Frames are cut from birch and can be painted, stamped, inked, or covered with paper (or a mixture of all the above!). I love using chalk paint on the birch because it dries quickly and it allows the wood grain to show through. I applied a light coat of mint green chalk paint allowing some of the bare wood to show through.
I set aside the main part of the frame to dry and so I could complete my next step. The flip flop portion of the frame has wood cut out that you can embellish. I used Distress Stain in Evergreen Fir to color the wood. It soaks right into the birch and a little goes a long way!
I then added Beacon Zip Dry to the top of the cut out and applied a turquoise glitter. I thought the flip flops needed some bling!
Using the 6 Inch Shiplap Mascil, I applied white acrylic paint to the word portion of the frame. I thought it needed a little extra because the chalk paint looked a little flat.
Each of the frames are approximately 5×7 inches and I covered each with bright patterned paper. After adhering my photos to the wood, I used my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive to adhere the frames. I then used coordinating stickers and chipboard to accent my photos.
Thank you for stopping by the blog today! Check out all of the XL Wood Frames in the Clear Scraps shop! Have a great day!
