Thankful Pumpkin Pallet

Thankful Pumpkin Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Flat

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a tutorial to make some fun autumn décor using one of the new pallet shapes from the Clear Scraps shop.  I'm in love with all things plaid this season, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to make some custom plaid décor.

I started by tracing the shape of the Pumpkin Medium DIY Pallet Shape onto the back of some double-sided orange plaid paper with a pencil.  I then repeated this step with just the stem region of the pallet onto some green plaid paper.

Knowing that my traced image would end up slightly larger than my actual pallet shape, I trimmed out the paper shapes slightly inside the traced lines using detail scissors.

I adhered the paper to the pallet using collage medium by first brushing medium onto the wood and pressing the paper on top.  Then, I added more collage medium over the entire shape on top of the paper to seal the piece and add a nice matte finish.

To finish the piece a bit more, I ran orange and green distress crayons around all of the edges and then blended them out and smoothed them with my finger.

For a little extra detail, I die cut leaves and vines from the same green plaid paper.  After blending green ink around the edges of each with a sponge dauber, I carefully adhered them around the stem with liquid glue and foam tape.

The thankful sentiment and its shadow were cut from some gold foil and brown linen cardstock using my Silhouette CAMEO.  For a bit of dimension, I adhered this to the piece with foam adhesive.
