Blessed Chipboard Embellished Valentine Card

Hi Ya'll,

Tami here today with a card and some ideas to share with you.

Valentine's Day is only a few days away, and if traditional pink and red or conversation heart pastels don't appeal to you, maybe the colors in this card will.

I think Valentines can come in all sorts of colors and I thought this mix of prints was fun, romantic and vintage inspired. Plus it could be used as an anniversary or wedding card or if you left off the flowers, it would be suitable as a masculine card as well.

I used two different chipboard embellishments on this card, Double Hearts and Blessed Word Title.

The Double Hearts Chipboard comes in a 4 X 6 frame that you cut the embellishment out of. But those frames are a handy little embellishment too.

After laying out the card, I thought it would be a pretty little display piece if I framed it, so I decided to turn the cut away chipboard frame vertically and use it as the frame. So hang onto those frames once you remove the embellishment and upcycle them.

I love all things vintage, so I wanted the chipboard to take on the look of weathered wood. To do this, I used several different paint colors on the frame and heart and only partially mixed them, so that the individual colors would still show. Then I dry brushed them on. I decided to do the Blessed chipboard piece all in white so it would really stand out. After the paints dried, I lightly distressed the pieces with a file.

After the recipient has read your card, they could cut off the front of the card and display it or add a ribbon to hang it.; another way to upcycle.

I hope you have enjoyed this project and gathered some ideas to use on your own projects.
