Acrylic Clipboard with Rainbow Alcohol Ink

Hiya!

Tami here on the Clear Scraps Blog with you today. I have a bright and colorful project to share. Here in Texas, most of us have just about recovered from the Winter Storms and are happy to see some sunshine!

Alcohol Inks and Clear Scraps Acrylic products play well together and there are lots of different effects and techniques using them.

For this project, I started with the Small Scallop Oval Landscape Clipboard. Remember to remove the protective film from both sides of any of Clear Scraps Acrylic products; they are crystal clear after the film has been removed.

A rainbow came to mind when designing this project; since it is often seen after a storm. With that in mind, I selected pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet Alcohol Inks.

I added drops of pink towards the right side of the oval and tipped the acrylic to spread the ink. Then I added red and repeated the process, letting the colors overlap and run into each other. I continued adding each ink in the order listed above and tilting after each addition to let the inks run and blend.

I then let the inks dry completely. While they were drying, I thought up a quote to put on it and wrote it out on some white cardstock.

I like to use the uninked side as the "front" as it gives a cleaner look. I used the silver clip that comes with the clipboard to attach my quote…

Now my rainbow bright clipboard is ready to hang up in my studio.

I think I'll find a suction cup so I can hang it in the window and let the light shine through it!

Thank you for visiting the Clear Scraps Blog today; please come back often to see what the other very talented designers have to show you!
