Flock of Butterflies Card with Embossing Technique

HiYa!

Tami here on the Clear Scraps' Blog today to share a project with you.

This month I'm focusing on techniques that you can try out using your Clear Scraps' products.

I used a lot of the same supplies on each of the projects to make it easier to play and try out the ideas.

Today, I'll be showing you how to use a Clear Scrap Stencil with your diecut or embossing machine to add an embossed design to paper.

It's nice to be able to "multi-task" your supplies; find different ways to use them.

The design from the Butterfly Flock Stencil was embossed on watercolor paper and then used to make this card…

If you'd like to try out the technique, here are the step out directions for the card…

NOTE: For this project, ink your paper before embossing since oxide inks are being used. The embossed detail would be lightened or lost by the use of water on it if you embossed the paper first.

Apply scattered areas of inks across watercolor paper…

Spritz lightly with water to activate inks…

Blot lightly with clean paper towel; let dry…

Place the stencil on diecutting plate, position paper (inked side down) over it, then add embossing mat (or cut piece of fun foam) and cover with top plate. Add foam and or chipboard pieces to stack if needed. Your stack will depend on your diecut machine…

If embossed design is not as detailed or deep as you would like, try adding another piece of foam or chipboard.

Here's how the paper looks after it is embossed…

Adhere inked cardstock to card front. Cut out sentiment and adhere using foam tape…

Embossing your design before stenciling it is a great way to add dimension to your project.

Try embossing on plain white or kraft cardstock, then using bright vivid colors to stencil the design for a bold graphic look.
