I have pictures of both my kids in their very first Halloween costume, and each year I take out those magnet frames and put them on the fridge in the Fall. However, this year the frame for my son's picture broke. Never fear…Clear Scraps to the rescue!
Hi it's Maureen – I'm here to share an easy project for any of those Halloween memories you'd like to remember. I've created a magnet frame using the Tall Pumpkin Mini Shaker. This project was so nice to put together quickly on a weekend when I was focused on decorating my house for Fall.
I've started by painting the outside layer with acrylic paint. I'm doing this in white, yellow and orange because I thought the shape looked like a candy corn. With these colors, I noticed I needed at least 2 layers of paint.
Next, I traced the shape on my picture with a pencil and cut it out, trimming it in just a bit to eliminate any extra edges. This picture is glued to the base shape.
Once the top layer is dry, I've assembled the shaker. I've added the 2 bottom trim layers, and then spooned some of the fun Fall Sequins and Spooky Sequins inside. The next layer is the acrylic shape – make sure you take the protective liner off of both sides before applying. The final layer is the candy corn painted layer and all are set aside to dry.
One of the paper pads I purchased for Halloween had such cute sayings so I knew I needed to work this in to the project somehow. For this, I've cut the sentiment out in a square shape, then added 2 larger squares behind it as a decorative frame. These are glued to the back of the shaker.
To get the shaker to stick to my fridge, I'm choosing to use a thin magnet sticker sheet. I've cut the pumpkin shape out of this sheet and adhered it to the back of the pumpkin.
Now it's time to document the year – I can't believe this picture was taken so long ago! For this, I selected one of the Heart Chipboard pieces and colored it with black marker. The date and some embellishments are done in a white gel pen.
My project is nearly finished – adding a bow to the top makes it complete! Now I have 2 handmade frames again on my fridge, and a lot of special memories of Halloween past. How do you document the memories of past holidays in your life?
Thanks for joining me today – a supply list is below for your convenience. See you next time!
