Shaker Star Album Focal

Hi crafty friends!

It's officially December which means that I am busy making memories for my December Daily. So, I found it fitting to share a tutorial on how I created my cover focal for my album.

Grab your Mini Star Shaker and let's start crafting. To begin, I start layering the star cut-outs, leaving one out to be the the top of the shaker star.

I then grab some craft foam, a marker, and the top star cutout. You can place the solid backer piece to the side as we will not be using it. Not trace your star onto your craft foam. These traces stars will add more dimension to our focal piece. Therefore, you should make as many additional foam stars as necessary.

Cut those stars out and layer them behind the chipboard layers that we initially created. Remove any excess overhang. Now take white paint and paint the top layer of the star that you set to the side.

Grab your album, and add your dimensional star to the front.

Add in your shaker mix.

Then add on your acetate window. Be sure that the film is removed from all sides.

Add embellishments, and there you have your album focal. I chose to add chipboard stickers and a paper flower. I also went over the edges of the star with stickles to add a little more shimmer and interest. I wanted to keep the shaker mix visible, so I chose to make a cluster off to one side of the star.

I love the look of this layered shaker star and hope you do too. It makes the album cover more festive which is perfect for a December daily.

Feel free to leave any questions or comments below. As always, happy crafting and happy holidays!
