Hello fellow crafters! Today I am working on wreath attachments using Clear Scraps birch small wood bats and the witch hat shaker. These can be added to cards, used as holiday decorations, the possibilities are endless.
First up are my sparkly bats. I painted them black with acrylic paint and let that dry completely. Next, I used a mixed media soft gloss gel (Prima) as the medium to get the embossing powder to stick. I used a Wow embossing powder that is all the glitter and shine because I want my bats to stand out!
The wonderful thing about the birch wood products is that you can use any form of medium. Paint, paper, embossing powders, etc. I attached wire on the back to allow me to use as a wreath attachment, but if you want to hand on the wall as decoration, you can add a Velcro picture hanger on the back.
Now for the witch hat shaker. I used a 3×4 decorative paper with saying and glued to the base of the shaker. I trimmed the edges with a craft knife. Next, I glued two of the trim pieces to my base and set aside. I took the acrylic piece and removed the plastic film. I glued the remaining trim piece to the acrylic piece and let dry. I added in the super cute Halloween shaker bits (look closely there are little bats!). Glue together and I use binder clips to hold everything together to dry.
I used a small ink cube in black to run across the trim piece and outside edge. I want to give it a rustic/imperfect look this is why I did not paint it. I then took metallic waxes of various shades to create the affect I wanted. Attached wire on the back to become a wreath attachment.
