Hello Crafty Friends! I am here to share with you how I decorated the Friends Wooden Frame. This frame could easily be turned into a shaker if you wanted something more permanent. I chose to do an older technique with tissue paper and cling film. This technique may be new to you, and I highly encourage you to give it a go!
When I first saw this frame, I knew it would be perfect to showcase the friendship between my son and his dogs. There’s no bigger bond than a boy and his dog! First, you need to collect your supplies. You will need a piece of cling film, a piece of parchment paper, regular white tissue paper, and a piece of cardstock. You will also need an iron.
Start by taping your tissue paper to a piece of cardstock. Then you need to open your computer program of choice (Word, Design Studio, Adobe, etc) and design your frame. I picked a free printable scrapbook paper for the top “Friends”. I added that to my blank page. Then I drew a picture frame using squares. Once I entered in the measurements of the actual frame, I sized my pictures to fit. In this case, my pictures were half an inch square. I arranged my pictures and added names. Once I was happy with my pictures, I hit Print. I personally do not change any settings on my printer.
Allow the ink to dry. Remove the tissue paper from the cardstock. Lay the cling film over the “Friends”. Lay your patterned tissue paper on top of that and then your parchment paper. Using your iron on the hottest setting (NO steam), iron over the entire word. Apply gentle pressure.
Once the tissue paper is adhered, use a sanding tool or craft knife to remove the access tissue paper. Continue with the same steps on the frame portion.
I then outlined the word with a brown alcohol marker and a silver gel pen for sparkle. I decided to use repositionable glue dots to hold my picture and the frame part to the base. This way I can change the picture. I did not cover the stands because the tan matches my décor; but you can do the same process on the stands. I absolutely love the way this Friends Frame turned out! ~Tiffany McGill
