Winter Wishes Shadow Box – Bringing the Holiday Spirit to Life!

Hey, creative friends! Patricia here, and I'm thrilled to share my first project with Clear Scraps. Today, I’m diving into a festive, winter-themed shadow box called "Winter Wishes" that captures the magic of the season.

This piece features the 6×6 shadow box, where I created a cozy winter scene that I’m sure will bring some holiday cheer to your home decor!  What I love about this shadow box is the versatility of using the front as one piece or using the four small squares on the other sides to create multiple scenes. I decided to use the front as my base.

To build the base, I assembled the shadow box with a bit of wood glue to make it sturdy. Then, I used Mod Podge to attach a piece of Gelli printed rice paper in a deep, night-blue hue—perfect for setting a frosty winter sky.

While waiting for everything to dry, I pulled out my favorite dies and manual die-cutting machine. I cut out a collection of shapes, from evergreen trees and buildings to a classic street lamp, people, and, of course, Santa and his reindeer.

With each element in place, I was able to build a scene filled with holiday charm!

After letting the shadow box and rice paper dry, it was time to add the fun, layered details that made this piece come alive!

For the final touches of magic, I placed Santa and his reindeer flying across the top, with a splash of red on his hat and Rudolph’s famous nose. To create texture, I added snow with a bit of texture paste on Santa’s hat, the trees, and along the ground, making it feel like a winter wonderland.

Layering the cityscape with double-sided foam tape, I followed with the trees, a bright red vintage Christmas truck, and a dad in a scarf hauling a tree back to his family. A streetlamp casts a warm glow, balancing the cool tones of the snow. To complete the look, I added a golden star atop one of the trees, giving it that holiday sparkle, along with a Winter Wishes sticker.

This shadow box has a nostalgic vibe, capturing the essence of the holiday season with three-dimensional layers and vibrant colors that pop against the textured, snowy backdrop.
