Little Red Truck for Christmas

Hello and Happy Thursday to y'all! Misty here today sharing my very first project as a Guest Designer with Clear Scraps, and I am SO EXCITED!
I had the pleasure of working with the AMAZING Truck Memory-Dex Box and OH MY GOODNESS! SO much fun!
At first, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to paint it or wrap it with cardstock.  Painting would be quick and easy, but I really wanted a more rustic look that I just don't think that I could achieve with my minimal painting skills.  Therefore, wrapping it is!

I always begin every project by gathering my supplies so that I have them handy and close by for when I need them. The tools and supplies for this project are pretty simple and straight forward.  In addition to the parts and pieces of the Truck Memory-Dex, I also gathered:
paper and embellishments of my choice
Beacon 3 IN 1 glue
Nuvo black texture paste
a palette knife
a craft knife
glossy accents glue
a light grit sanding block
Scissors
Scallop Chip Dividers 3 Pack
Scallop Acrylic Dividers 3 Pack

I pulled out one of the many amazing Christmas lines from 49 & Market and set to work. For each piece, I just traced around it onto the paper and trimmed the edges to fit properly. The one thing that I do that many may not, is I use a fine grit sanding block to sand down the edges of the cardstock to fit more seamlessly to the edges of the wood. This also gives a more rustic and vintage feel to the project since it exposes the white core of the paper.
Where can you find a light grit sanding block? Well, I will tell you…in your purse! Ha!  Actually, I use a fingernail filing block! You know, the kind with the four different grits for making your nails perfect? Well, that is also perfect for sanding down cardstock edges without ripping it to shreds!

After tracing, trimming and adhering each piece of paper to its respective counterpart, it was now time to assemble.  I used the video that was provided with the truck package when I received it.  In case you don't have that, you can find the Clear Scraps YouTube videos by searching @ClearScraps in Youtube, or click on the link right of the blog. I sanded all the edges and added the black novo texture past for the tires, and then I let everything dry over night.

I LOVE IT!  When I came back the next morning to finish my Little Red Truck, it was so stinking CUTE!!  I started adding some adornments to decorate the outside, but I didn't want to add too much. At this point, I had not put anything into the bed of the truck.  You can see that I used a woodgrain paper to line those exposed areas also.

It made me think of those little red trucks hauling Christmas trees that are on EVERYTHING now…so of course, I had to include a photo like that!
Now it is a replica of the perfect little Family Tree Farm truck!

But WAIT!  There's MORE!!  I grabbed a few Memory Dex cards and fancied them up to go into my truck. I am a sucker for the acrylics.  I used some rub ons, some chipboard and some lace for these.

And then I stacked them onto pf their chipboard Memory Dex counterpart…and WOW WOW WOW!

For the Memory Dex cards, all I did was use patterned paper, chipboard embellishments, and ribbon to decorate the raw chipboard and acrylic cards.
When it was all finished, I sat back and looked at my adorable new Christmas Decoration/December Photo A Day album!
