Farmhouse Door with Valentine Wreath

Hey Y'all!  Misty (@Mommyofkidz) here again, with my second Guest DT Project…and my very first "Off the page" project for 2025! I am so super excited and in absolute LOVE with this door…and I hope you all will be too! The Wooden Projects from Clear Scraps are SO MUCH FUN to personalize!
As per usual, I gathered my supplies, and for this one I used quite a few of the same items as I did on my Little Red Truck in December.
With my kit in had and my tools within reach, this project was about to get underway!

The very first thing I did was to cover the entire door and all its pieces with a woodgrain paper.  The ones that I used were from a paper pad from Craft Consortium, but any would work.
Rather than just covering the whole thing with a solid sheet of paper, I chose to approach it like I was actually building the door with wooden slats. Therefore, I measured the spaces on the main piece and cut my "boards" according to those measurements.  I also did the same with the frame, cutting the corners at an angle, etc.  The glossy accents is perfect for gluing the paper to the wood, as it is a very quick drying wet glue and it allows for continuous work without anything slipping out of place.  I LOVE this glue.

Once my door and frame was complete, I set it to the side and began painting my "hardware" pieces.  I wanted the hinges, the handle, and the wreath hanger to have that old rustic look, so of course, I pulled out my handy dandy black textured paste and some more plain black paint.  I mixed the two together to create the look of black wrought iron…and I LOVE the results! The picture does not do this justice! I allowed these pieces to dry for about an hour before I finished the assembly.  While I did that I worked on the wreath…(but that will be a little further down the page…I don't want to mix up the order!)

Once all pieces of the door and hardware were dry, I proceeded to assemble it into and actual DOOR. I use 3 In One Glue by Beacon for gluing the wood together.  I would DEFINITELY use wood glue on a larger project, but something small like this, the 3 in One works magnificently. For the proper assembly placement, I did go to the ClearScraps Site and take a look at the photo provided of the Standing Farmhouse Door when fully assembled. I typically let this part dry over night, just to be on the save side.

Now for the Wreath!! OH MY GOSH!  It was so easy and made such difference in the plain door! I chose the Arrow Heart Chipboard Embellishment for this…as I envisioned the cutest little wreath! Y'll, I'm gonna be honest.  Sometimes, my visions DO NOT turn out the same IRL as they do in my head. But sometimes…they are Better! This one was one of those rare BETTER times! And it was super stinking'  easy! ALL I used for this was Red acrylic paint, ribbon, and mini pink and red flowers.  THAT's IT!
Simply Cut the piece out of the frame with my craft knife, then painted the whole thing red. Once it dried, I added the mini roses in alternating pattern then the ribbon for hanging from the door hanger, and that was IT!

Once I finished that, I set it all aside to do whatever drying still needed to be done.  I cleaned up my mess and waited patiently…WHO AM I KIDDING!!?
Y'all, I didn't clean anything!  I was WAY TOO EXCITED to see this all put together!
