Welcome-ish Wooden Sign

Hi there Clear Scraps Friends!
Misty (@Mommyofkidz) here on the blog today sharing a fun wooden sign that will definitely be hanging on my front door!
Have you ever had guests that you really didn't really WANT but didn't have the heart to tell them?
Or have you ever had guests show up unannounced in a very inconvenient time for you?
I certainly have on both accounts! Of course, I would never ask anyone to just LEAVE…but I certainly don't mind letting them know upfront in a very inconspicuous way! HA HA!

I started with the Large Shiplap Wooden Circle and started by painting it black. After the first layer dried completely, it was still a little dull looking, so I added a second layer.

After the black layers had dried completely, I added my center ribbon.  This was pretty easy to do, just put down a generous layer of mod Podge first, as the glue to adhere the ribbon to the wood. after placing the ribbon on top of the first layer of mod Podge, I smoothed it out and allowed it to dry.  Once it was dry, I added a second layer of Mod Podge on top for good measure.

I allowed that layer to dry, and then I added a third layer of Mod Podge, this time covering the entire piece.  This layer will give a good seal to the ribbon, as well as sealing in the black paint on the rest of the sign.  Not to mention, I knew that I would be using vinyl on this sign, so I wanted to ensure a good solid grip, rather than the porous wood.

While this was drying, I clipped all my buds off of my flower bushes. I got the bushes.  I did lay them out on my desk in the way that I thought I would place them on the sign…but of course, that never happens in real life. LOL.

Once I sat down with the sign after it had dried completely, the first step was to add the sentiment. I did use permanent glossy vinyl for this, which I had cut using my Cricut Maker. IMG_1967

Once that was secured in place, I added the flowers.  I LOVED the sunflowers and how vibrant they are against the black background!!
