In My Spooky Era – Halloween Door Décor

I had so much fun creating this spooky door sign using the Clear Scraps Large Wood Shiplap Circle! With Halloween just around the corner, I knew this would make the perfect statement piece for my home.

I started by painting the shiplap circle with a rich purple acrylic paint. After a few coats, I went back in with some dry brushing in black and white to add depth and texture to the background.

While that dried, I turned my attention to the shakers—because you know I can’t resist adding shakers! For this project, I used the Mini Witch Hat Shaker, Mini Bat Shaker, and the Mini Ghost Shaker. Each shaker was covered in cardstock and then filled with spooky little shapes that matched the theme.

or the title, I cut “In My Spooky Era” from metallic vinyl on my Cricut. To give it extra pop, I layered it over hot pink vinyl, which created a fun dimensional shadow. The best part? The metallic vinyl picks up surrounding colors depending on the angle you look at it—so it has a little shimmer and surprise every time you walk by!

Once my vinyl was ready, I laid it out on the circle and positioned my shakers around it to get the layout just right. After adhering the vinyl, I hot glued the shakers in place. To finish the piece, I created a bow using Halloween-themed ribbon and tucked in a few decorative picks for some extra flair. At first my bow was way too big, so I trimmed a few loops and reshaped it so it wouldn’t overwhelm the design—a reminder that sometimes less really is more!

Since this piece includes shakers, I’ll likely hang it indoors to keep them safe from moisture, but it would look just as amazing on a covered porch or entryway.

I love how this project turned out—it’s bold, fun, and perfectly spooky for the season!
