Floral Shaker Tag

Hello Friends! Misty @Mommyofkidz here with you today, sharing my VERY FIRST Clear Scraps Project post for the new year! Happy 2026 to you all! Since we are nine whole days in, I have a question for you… well, a couple of them.
1. Did you make a crafty goal for this year?
2. If you did, will you share it with me in the comments?
3. If you did not make a crafty goal, will you still share your goal with me anyway?

The reason that I ask, is two fold.
One, because I did make crafty goals as well as personal growth goals, and I am curious to see how many people make them.
And two, because one of my goals is to support, encourage, and comment more on friends’ posts, both personal and crafty…and I would love to be able to follow you on IG or FB and see and support your works and efforts!

And that brings me to today’s project post. My acrylic Floral Shaker Tag. It is a simple project, and so easy to make. Using the mini milk can shaker and a #10 acrylic tag, I created a fun element to add to a card, scrapbook page, or just about ANY project!

The first thing that I do when beginning any project is gather my materials. For this project, I obviously started with the mini milk can shaker and a #10 acrylic tag. I also needed paints, flowers, ribbon, shaker filler, E600, glossy accents, and a paint pen for the detail work.
I am going to be honest…I have tried many acrylic paints, but my favorites are the ones that are in the Clear Scraps Store. The Plaid Folkart Chalk paints are FABULOUS!
I used the blue Nautical chalk paint for the body of the milk can..but I diluted it with lots of white and the “sheepskin” color in attempts to create a rustic look. I think it worked…???

Anyway…once all your materials are gathered…it is time to put them to work!! Assemble and paint your Milk can. Use E6000 premium to adhere it to the tag, toss in your shaker filler and secure the top. I let this dry overnight, then I do all the fun stuff…like the paint marker and the floral.
Pro TIp…. I had a genius idea! I tried to use a mixture of blue alcohol inks to create a cloud effect on the tag. I did this on my cowboy boot tag and it worked fantastically! However…i used blending solution this time. NOT A SMART MOVE! It was a mess ad refused to dry! I ended up wiping it all off and starting over. Next time…inks only!

I think it is very clear that I LOVE working with the acrylic tags and shakers. Each one I make is different…and each one is fabulous! However, this one may just be my favorite. This one represents my son that passed away.

Today marks 10 years since he has been gone, and I chose to fill the milk can with sunflowers- representing JOY, strength, and optimism to honor him. I look joyfully to the day that I will be able to embrace him once again!

Go visit the Clear Scraps Store and explore all the beautiful items they have to offer! I may or may not have made a secret goal/resolution to create one of EVERYTHING in the store!! I can’t wait!
