Soft Texture & Sweet Details: An Easter Layout with Clear Scraps Chipboard

There’s something so special about documenting Easter memories — the soft colors, the spring sunshine, and the pure joy on their faces. For this layout, I wanted to create a clean and polished design while adding subtle texture to make the chipboard elements shine.

For this layout, I wanted something soft, sweet, and clean — but with just enough texture to keep it interesting. I reached for the Bunny Chipboard Embellishments and the Embellishments Chipboard Punchout FAITH (Happy Easter circle) from Clear Scraps to add dimension and custom detail.

One thing I almost always do with chipboard is start with a white acrylic marker. Chipboard loves to soak up color, and adding that white base first helps everything stay vibrant and crisp. For the “Happy Easter” circle, I colored the entire piece white first, then went back in and colored the words black for contrast. The outer circle was finished in a soft pink to tie in with the florals on the page. I love how clean and bold it looks against the white background.

For the bunny, I wanted something a little softer and more textured. I again started with a white acrylic base, then added a thin layer of texture paste over the top and smoothed it out. I wasn’t going for heavy mixed media — just subtle dimension. Once it dried, I lightly inked the entire bunny with soft pink and added touch of gray around the edges to add shading and depth. It gives the bunny a gentle, almost velvety look without overpowering the clean design.

The separate scalloped tail was the perfect place to add a little extra detail. I colored it white, added texture paste for dimension, and then topped it with glitter for a soft sparkle. It’s such a small element, but it adds so much personality.

To keep the layout feeling structured and balanced, I added a horizontal patterned strip across the lower third of the page to anchor the embellishments. That little design choice really helps everything feel intentional and grounded. I built clusters in a loose visual triangle — title, eggs, bunny — and finished it off with enamel dots for just the right amount of polish.

What I love most about Clear Scraps chipboard is how customizable it is. You can keep it clean and simple, add texture, layer inks, or even add sparkle — it really adapts to your style.

And for me, this layout is a reminder that it’s okay to scrapbook the same photo again if it still makes you smile. Some memories deserve more than one page.

If you haven’t tried layering paint and texture on your chipboard yet, this is your sign to give it a try! Grab your favorite Clear Scraps embellishments and experiment — a simple white base coat opens up so many creative possibilities. I’d love to see what you create!
