Mixed Media Music Tags

Hi everyone! Judy here sharing a colorful mixed media project created with fabulous products from Clear Scraps. These music-inspired acrylic tags are full of vibrant color, shimmer, and dimension — perfect for gifting, adding to a junk journal, or even hanging in a creative space!

I absolutely love working with acrylic because it allows the colors and textures to truly shine while adding a modern, glossy finish.

Supplies Used

  • Acrylic paint & alcohol ink
  • Gold foil
  • Texture paste
  • Die cut music staff
  • Ribbon & trim
  • Adhesive

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep the Acrylic Tags

Start by removing the protective film from both sides of the Clear Scraps acrylic tags. This is important so your colors adhere properly and the clarity shines through.

2. Add Color to the Background

Apply alcohol inks to one side of the tags.

Let the colors move and blend naturally for that beautiful marbled effect.

Before the inks dry completely, apply gold foil by laying over the tags, gold side up, and rubbing. This is done in a random fashion. The foil sticks to wet areas

3. Add Stenciled Texture

Once dry, place a stencil over the inked side and apply texture paste through it. Allow this to dry completely.

4. Color the Chipboard Guitars

Paint or ink the Clear Scraps chipboard guitars to coordinate with your backgrounds. I used metallic acrylic markers.

5. Die Cut Music Staff/Create Sentiments

Gold music staffs are die cut.

Music-themed sentiments are stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut.

6. Finishing

Adhere the music staffs.

Add the guitars.

Apply the sentiments.

I adhered a few pieces of a gold mesh ribbon randomly for a little more texture.

Thread coordinating ribbon and specialty trim through the tag holes. I layered gold mesh ribbon and patterned ribbon for added texture and movement. Music note brads were added.

These tags would be perfect for:

  • Gift toppers
  • Journal embellishments
  • Wall décor in a music room
  • Handmade bookmarks

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this project inspires you to pull out your Clear Scraps acrylic pieces and create something bold and musical.
