Mini and a layout in one

Hi all and happy start of the Labor day weekend. It's our last hurray for the summer and I thought of sharing a Summer themed layout. Kind of my last hurray for the Summer too. *wink*

But when I was starting this project, I came across a dilemma….I had a few pictures I wanted to add to the page but was not in the mood to make a double spread. I didn't want to make a mini of it because I thought there's not enough pictures and the sizes are all different to do something in that category so after some thought, I decided of putting the two options together. And so the mini and a layout combination was born!

I like the idea of being able to make a small mini album attached with the layout so I can still keep the favorite mini pictures of this trip and leaving enough room for journaling, title and some fun accents.

I used the Garden Variety collection from Cosmo Cricket to start this page off. For the title I used a combination of Hambly Screen Prints stickers and Cosmo Cricket stickers. I also added some rubons from Hambly Screen Prints.

I purposely placed the flower chipboards on this spot because I wanted to hide some other children playing in the playground equipment.

and for the mini book I used the Clear Mini Tab Album from the Clear Scraps Keychain album collection. I love how the mini size fit right in between the photos of my children.

I loved dressing up the mini in this project. It was just the right amount of creative space I needed to add some whimsy and still preserve my fave pictures of the kids having fun at the park.

I made a simple design with a picture on the right hand side and pattern paper on the left. The pattern paper on the left actually covered the back of the picture on the right side. I love it when paper can work double duty.

I added some chipboard fun shapes and some applicable words to describe our fun day.

And then I added some pearl pen from Viva decor to the edges of the book so you can see the shape of it against the acrylic foundation.

and here's a look at the mini on the page. I made sure I used some strong adhesive to add the book to the page. I know it's pretty bulky but I love how it turned out. I'll have to do some adjustments with my page protector when I'm ready to put this chunky layout in the album.

So there you have it. Thanks for stopping by.
