Mixing stamps and punches

When I got some of these new acrylic stamps from Clear Scraps, I was really excited because I'm a card-maker and these will be an excellent addition to what I do.  One thing I jumped on right away is that I have punches that coordinate with some of the stamp shapes.  Some are a little bigger than the stamp images but that's OK – it just leaves me a little more room around the edge for inking and distressing.

Here I used the square stamp:  Many Thanks.

I stamped it in "Gathered Twigs" distress ink and then inked around the edge of the square after I punched it out with my Marvy punch and distressed it with my Tim Holtz distress tool.  This little "embellishment" costs me almost nothing but it's really cute on a card!!

I made 2 versions – on this first card, I already had an image stamped but it had no sentiment on it so I tucked this little sentiment square neatly into the existing flap of the tag and ta-da….a thank you card.

On this one that had been a birthday card (for a 10-year-old) originally,  I covered over the original Happy Birthday sentiment with my newly stamped sentiment. Now the 1-10 words (in French) now support my "Many Thanks" sentiment.  I even have a recipient already – a girl who does my taxes quickly and efficiently and even saying Thank You 10x is not enough, but it'll have to be a start.

I can't wait to get out my other stamps and my circle punches.  I may have to invest in an oval punch for some of the oval stamps….Yay.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cathy
