Acrylic Butterfly Banner

Good morning Clear Scraps family! I'm here with you today to share the gorgeous acrylic Butterfly Banner from Clear Scraps.

Today I am working with the Butterfly Banner, 6" Circle Mascil, and 6" Flower Mascil.

I wanted something that was bright to dress up the decor in my sunroom, but I didn't have anything theme related in mind. After thinking on it a bit, I realized that was okay! I pulled out the circle and flower Mascils, spray paint from Liquitex, Alcohol Inks, and my Viva Decor Pearl pens, and some old paper from my stash.

To start, I removed the protective film from the front of my acrylic pieces, and taped down the mascil using washi tape.

I then spray painted over top the mascil with quick even sprays. I used an old sheet of paper as a shield as I worked so I didn't spray paint where it wasn't wanted. I then lifted the Mascil and repositioned it two more times to spray the other parts of the butterfly.

After the spray paint dried, I then peeled the protective film from the backside of the acrylic pieces and applied alcohol ink in yellow and red to add some more color.

On the right flower in the above photo, while the mascil was still wet with the spray paint from the left flower, I quickly lift the mascil up and turned it over to use as a stamp. I think the look is so pretty, and it adds lovely texture to the acrylic.

Once all the acrylic pieces were dry, I then adhered them to the backside of my old Ki Memories paper. The backside of these papers have an iridescent, almost sparkly look to them, which just enhanced the look I was going after on this banner. I trimmed around the banner pieces with my craft knife to create a nice clean edge.

I then used my Viva Decor Pen in Yellow to add little dots on the flowers from the mascils, and all over the dragonflies.

Once the dots from the Viva Decor dried, I used my Crop-A-Dile to add holes to the acrylic pieces so they could be tied together, then decorated with cute stickers from Pebbles Inc. and some Prima butterflies.

The only thing left to do is tie your banner together using twine or ribbon, then find a lovely spot to hang it in your home.
