Acrylic Roses

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you a fun little project I made using a Clear Craft Sheet.  I love the look of acrylic and thought an acrylic rose would be perfect to decorate a simple cupcake for a friend's birthday.

Creating this 3-D rose was quite simple.  I began by die cutting the acrylic sheet using a steel ruled die and my Sizzix machine.

Next, after removing the protective covering, I inked the rose with some Staz-On ink in Claret.

Finally, here is the tricky part, I simple heated the rose just enough to make the acrylic maleable.  Be careful here, you don't want to shrink the acrylic, juste heat it so that you can begin the rolling process.

There was a little heating, a little bending, a little heating, a little bending.  Go slowly and stop if it gets too warm.

Once the acrylic cools, it holds its shape fairly well, but you can use a little ZipDry if you want to hold it more securely.

I can't help but think I will be making more of these  in the future…how cute would they be on a headband or an altered art project, or maybe just under glass like Beauty and the Beast…..  hmmmmm
