Hello! It's Jennifer and I'm here to share a quick and easy project using the Mini Shaker Heart! If you have not had a chance to try out these fun products, you must! I promise, they are a piece of cake to put together as well as a variety of uses! And for store owners these are great for make and takes!
All you need is a little bit of acrylic paint, some coordinating patterned paper, and sequins/glitter! I painted the base chipboard as well as the edges of the two frame pieces and the top piece with Distress Paint. While allowing my paint to dry, I used Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Adhesive to adhere my patterned paper to the base chipboard. I then cut any excess paper and as well as sanded the edges.
Constructing your Shaker is easy! Again using a water based adhesive, like Beacon, glue your two frame pieces to the base piece. Next you are going to add your glitter or sequins the CENTER of your shaker. A good tip I learned from our fearless leader, Pinky, is to wave a dryer sheet over the top of your shaker before applying any embellishments. This reduces any static when you adhere your acrylic piece! I used some chunky gold glitter I found at Michaels that I love; in hindsight I think I got a little overzealous with it LOL. Now you are going to adhere your acrylic piece….its best to apply your adhesive to the chipboard instead of the acrylic. Now you are ready to apply the top frame! Also, its not a bad idea to use a little additional acrylic paint on the sides of your shaker to make sure all of the chipboard is covered.
Once everything was dry, I added a metal charm from Tim Holtz's Idealology and bakers twine from my stash! Small fabric flowers work great, as well! Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to check out the Clear Scraps shop to see all of the variety of shapes available! Have a great day!
