Butterfly Heart Layout

Hello! Jennifer back to share a layout I  created using the 12 Inch Butterfly Heart Mascil with a 12×12 Acrylic Sheet! And I'm going to show you my technique! Out of all the new Mascils, this one is a favorite!

To start, I  secured my Mascil to my 12×12 Acrylic Sheet using washi tape. It's also a good idea to use a craft mat or something that you don't mind getting a little messy.

Next, I  applied a generous coat of modeling paste to the Mascil. It does not matter if you apply your medium in one direction; just ensure you are covering all spaces.  I    also did not care so much about my paste being even as I  wanted it to have dimension when dry. I  allowed my modeling paste to dry overnight before coloring with my Distress Crayons. Scroll below for a video sharing this technique!

Using my Beacon Adhesive, I  backed my 12×12 Acrylic Sheet with patterned paper.  Since I  did not want my adhesive to show through the acrylic, I  applied only to the outside edges.  A simple way to hide your dried adhesive is to glue strips of patterned paper to the front of your layout as shown.

Did you know you can sew through Clear Scraps Acrylic?  Using my sewing machine, I  stitched around the edges of my page to give it a finished look!

Here is a close up of the coloring with the paste and Distress Crayons! I  tried to do a rainbow coloring scheme with going dark to light as I  went up my page.  Again, I  blended the colors to create different hues and variances.
