Family Picket Fence Tutorial

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you a project I made using the Picket Fence Palette DIY and the Home, Family, Blessings wall stencil.   Picket Fence_clear scraps_nancy keslin

I  began by staining the wood fence with some old stain I had out in the garage. This step was quick and easy, just wiped it on and let it dry.  After the stain was dry, I painted white paint over the stain.  I didn't need this to have perfect coverage and I wanted it to be a bit distressed.

I then taped my stencil onto the fence shape.  The walls in my home have too much texture for the wall stencils, but these wood palette shapes allow me to use them anywhere I chose.  The entire stencil wouldn't fit on the shape so I just chose the first two lines.

This was the hard part, I sanded through the stencil to remove the paint from the areas I wanted to show.  This took a while and so special finagling with the sand paper, until I remembered my husband had a Dremmel tool. Once I started using that, the project was done in no time.

Finally I embellished the sign with some flowers and leaves I had in my stash.

I love this bit of home decor and it is perfect for my textured walls.

Thanks for stopping by.
