Hi everyone! It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a fun summertime thank you card made with chipboard embellishments and stencils from Clear Scraps. I love experimenting with different ways to alter these chipboard shapes and I chose embossing powders this time to give the seahorse lots of shine and texture.
Inspired by the fun seahorse embellishment, I started by creating a bright and sparkly underwater scene to serve as its backdrop. First, I applied different shades of blue and green alcohol inks to a piece of 5" x 7" Yupo paper to yield this bubbly and wavy background. Then, I die cut the sand from some gold glitter cardstock and the seaweed and coral from plain orange and green cardstock before adding a little bit of ink for dimension and sparkle ink for fun.
The seahorse embellishment was altered by first applying Versamark ink all over the front with an inkpad. After adding gold embossing powder, I melted it with my heat tool to create a smooth metallic gold embellishment at first. Then I placed the Quatrefoil stencil on top of the piece and applied more Versamark ink through the stencil. After adding two more colors of embossing powder (antique gold to the face and belly and copper down the back), I was left with a faux metal embellishment with some subtle texture and lots of shine and color.
Here is a closer look at the three different colors of embossing powder and that gorgeous stenciled pattern. I love how it looks just like a metal embellishment…and I can customize the colors and patterns!
I hope you enjoyed this fun summertime thank you card and thanks so much for stopping by today. What techniques do you like to use to alter the chipboard embellishments?
