Hello and happy Friday! I'm happy to share one of the new releases by Clear Scraps today on the blog! For Summer 2019, there are new Medium DIY Pallet Shapes in your favorite designs! For today's project, I used the House Medium DIY Pallet Shape and I'm going to show you my techniques.
I began by applying a light coat of acrylic brown paint which I watered down to create a "wood stain" effect. The birch wood soaks up the paint so all of the beautiful qualities show through!
Next, using the 6 Inch Shiplap Mascil, I applied texture paste to the front of my pallet just in the "house section". I did not worry about my application being perfect either as I just wanted to add some dimension. Using a heat gun will help the paste set quickly.
My pallet was then ready to decorate! I trimmed a favorite family photo down to 3×4 inches and matted onto white cardstock. I layered two pieces of patterned paper underneath my photo and adhered the entire piece using foam tape. I then secured a metal clip to the top.
Using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive, I adhered a few flowers as well as a die cut to add to my photo.
Using my hole punch, I added this decorative knob to the side of my pallet to give it a vintage feel.
To finish, I again used my hole punch at the top of my pallet to tie ribbon. This is a cute way to hang your creation or you can use wire as well!
