Hi everyone! It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a tutorial to make some fun winter décor with one of the adorable Pallet Shapes from Clear Scraps. The Snowman DIY Pallet Shape is super easy to decorate and fun to customize so that it matches your other holiday décor!
Although I usually work with acrylic paint, large wood shapes like this can sometimes take a while to paint multiple coats with a brush. Since I would be placing my snowman outdoors and he would be mostly one color, it made more sense for me to use spray paint. I gave the Snowman Pallet one coat of flat white paint and then applied this white glitter spray paint that leaves a subtle shimmer all over the surface (a fun way to mimic snow).
To create the hat, I traced the shape of it from the pallet onto the back of some black flocked cardstock and cut it out by hand. Then I cut out five pieces of coal and a carrot from the same flocked cardstock using scissors freehand.
I secured the flocked hat to the pallet using Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue. Then I wrapped a short length of one-inch red satin ribbon around the hat and adhered it in the back with glue.
The scarf was made from some two-inch green burlap ribbon that I folded in half and wrapped around the snowman's neck. Before securing it with more Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue, I attached two little sleigh bells to the knot and smoothed out the ends of the scarf.
Now that my other accessories were in place, I could figure out the best spacing for the eyes, nose, and buttons. Once I was happy with the placement, I adhered it all down with the same liquid glue.
I hope you enjoyed this fun winter décor project and thanks so much for stopping by today. How would customize this adorable snowman?
~ Annie
