Hello and happy Thursday! It's Jennifer here to share a Christmas project I created using the Angel DIY Pallet Shape. If you have not had a chance to play with the many Pallet Shapes you must try them out! There are so many possibilities on what type of projects you can create!
I began by giving my pallet a nice coat of chalk paint in grey. I love chalk paint because it goes on smooth as well as dries quickly. I did not worry about covering every inch of the front of the pallet since the grey would be the base color.
Once my paint was dry, I used a tea light candle to apply wax to the surface of my pallet. The rule is the more wax you apply, the more distressed finish for your end result.
Next, I applied cream chalk paint in small sections and scraped off the excess as I went. You will need to scrape before the second color dries. And if I do not like how a section turned out, I will go back with paint and re-scrape.
Here is the effect of the above technique. Your pallet should look a great deal more white with grey undertones. However, you can apply less paint to allow your base color to be more prominent.
Using a Christmas garland from a local craft store, I created a small wreath and adorned it with buffalo plaid ribbon. I affixed my wreath using twine from my stash.
I added a small sentiment using black vinyl and a cut file from my Silhouette. I simply adhered it using a bit of transfer tape. Last, I punched holes in each side of m pallet to string twine in order to hang my project.
