Flip Flop XL Wood Shape

Hi friends…hope this finds everyone doing well!  During the summer, I  always look forward to being able to wear flip flops! Today, I'm sharing the  Flip Flop XL Wood Shape which I  used to create a cute, summery door hanging.  And I'm going to show you the techniques I  used to create my project!

The Flip Flops measure 16.75 x 20 inches so I  decided to use spray paint to color my pieces.  I  used a light blue chalk paint for the base and black for the "thongs".  I    found it was best to do two light coats allowing each to dry in between

I  used sand paper to smooth any edges of paint that may have accumulated.  I  also gave the edges a distressed look by sanding off some of the paint.

Using black vinyl, I  cut a cute saying on my Silhouette and applied transfer tape to each word so I   could space my sentiment out to fit the shape. I  used a rub on tool to ensure my vinyl adhered to the wood.

Usually I  would use a solvent based adhesive such as Beacon when adhering wood pieces together. However since the thong cut out is rather large, I  used my hot glue gun to adhere it to the base.

Here is a close up of my sentiment!  I  love how it turned out!

Again using my Silhouette, I  cut 3D flowers from patterned paper and adhered around my sentiment.
