Hello everyone! It's Jennifer on the blog today to share a fun winter themed project I created! Winter isn't my favorite time of the year but I do love to create projects about it! And I will admit some photos out in the snow can be beautiful! I used a favorite picture of my daughter from a photo shoot I did last year after a big snow!
Starting with the Circle Medium DIY Pallet Shape, I painted the surface with chalk paint in a nice light blue. Chalk paint works well with the birch wood and a little goes a long way!
The chalk paint dries quickly so I was able to move onto my next step. I applied a light layer of modeling paste using the 6 Inch Nordic Snowflakes Mascil to the upper and lower slats.
I allowed the modeling paste to dry and measured out a piece of patterned paper to fit the center slat. Using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive, I applied my paper cutting off any excess with scissors. I followed by sanding the edges with my sanding tool to smooth any rough areas.
Here is a close up shot of the modeling paste with my Mascil. I chose to leave the paste as is to help the snowflakes pop against the light blue paint.
For my main accent, I used the Mitten Mini Shaker Shape which I painted with a dark red chalk paint.
I covered the base chipboard of the shaker with patterned paper then adhered my two middle chipboard frames. In the center, I added a few snowflakes from the Sprinkles Winter Flake Mix as well as shaved ice.
Once assembled, I adhered my shaker again using the Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive.
I then added a few smaller stickers and die cuts to accent as well as a decorative bow to the top edge of my photo.
Last, I punched holes at the top of my pallet to string some buffalo plaid ribbon in order to hang my project (plus it matches my daughter's coat)!
Thank you for reading today! Check out the large variety of Mini Shakers by going HERE! Have a great day!
