I have a fun little project I want to share with you; it's sure to brighten someone's day!

It is a thank you card featuring the Flower Mini Shaker

The flower shape is clean and simple and that made me think GRAPHIC! so I used bright colors accented with black to really make the elements PoP!

I started with a 5 X 10 card base of black cardstock.

Then I stenciled some bright rays on a 4 1/2' square of white cardstock. I used the 6" Spiral Stencil with yellow and orange ink…

Here are a few hints for working with stencils. First, use blue painter's tape to secure paper and stencil to your worksurface. Next, on a stencil like this one, with lined sections, it's easier if you glide your ink or paint along the direction of the design. In this case, I started with yellow ink on the outer edges. I pulled the ink from the inside down each of the "rays". Next, I added the orange, this time pulling from the center out toward the edges.

Next I got to work on the shaker. I wanted the background to match the sequins, so I used a pencil to outline the outer rim of the circle as well as the outside of the petals. I filled the designs in with yellow and blue ink…

Once the designs were inked, I cut them out – slightly INSIDE the lines. I checked to be sure that the papers fit properly and wouldn't stick out beyond the edges. Then adhered them to the back of one of the outline portions of the shaker…

Now for the fun part of any shaker — FiLLiNg it! i used sequins that matched the ink colors…

I used a black marker to color the top outline part of the shaker, then assembled it. Be sure you remove the protective film from BOTH sides of the acrylic piece. I like using a glue like Zip Dry for this as any excess that might ooze out cleans up easily, and it holds well…
