Hello everyone! It's Jennifer here on the blog to share some new Clear Scraps products with you today! I created a home decor project using two of the new Mini Shaker Shapes and one of the Mixer Stencils! And I'm going to show you the techniques I used!
First, I began with the Rectangle 12×10 Medium DIY Pallet Shape and gave it a good coat of black acrylic paint.
Once my paint was dry, I secured the 5×9 Circle Dots Mixer Stencil to the top edge of my pallet. I then applied modeling paste with a spatula not being concerned about it being perfect. I picked up my stencil and applied modeling paste a third of the way down.
Once my modeling paste was dry, I used Distress Oxide Ink in yellow and applied it with a blending brush (again not worrying about the coloring being perfect).
I flipped over my stencil to use the smaller dots and applied heavy acrylic paint in turquoise as shown.
While my paint was drying, I went to work on my shakers. For both the Bee Mini Shaker and Beehive Mini Shaker, I covered the base chipboard with patterned paper. I cut away excess paper with scissors and my x-acto knife followed by using my sanding tool.
For the top chipboard frames, I used chalk paint in patina and yellow acrylic paint respectively. For the bee, I added a layer of Metallic Guilded Paste in Gold because I did not like how the yellow paint looked.
For each shaker, I added sequins and small beads and affixed each to my pallet using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive. Here are close ups of each!
I added die cut ephemera and stickers around my frame as well as added small brads to accent.
Here is a close up of the stencil effect with paint and modeling paste.
