Clear Scraps Project Post

Hello crafty friends! Its Jennifer on the blog today to share a mini album I created documenting a fun day I spent with my son last summer!  To say he is a train fan is a big understatement!  We followed the Union Pacific Big Boy steam train through small towns in Southern IL to St. Louis.  

I thought the Train Chipboard Embellishment Shapes would be the perfect focal point for the the front of my album!  I used both black and red acrylic paint to color my chipboard.  

For my book, I used an all time classic: the 6×6 Regular Chipboard Album. I applied white acrylic paint to the outside edges as shown (on both sides of each page). 

For the front cover, I added paint to the right half because I wanted to be able to use on of the new Mixer Stencils.  Once my paint was dry, I blended three coordinating colors of Distress Oxide Ink using the 5×9 Plaids Mixer Stencil. 

Using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive, I adhered my Chipboard Embellishments over the stenciled effect as shown.  I then adhered patterned paper along with small embellishments. 

For each page, I cut a 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 inch piece of patterned paper for my background.  From there, I built on by layering additional patterns as well as embellishments. For the inside of the front cover, I usually like to reserve it for journaling about the event my book will be about. 

As you can see, I like to add color as well as layers. I'm also not afraid of adding embellishments right onto my photos. 

Here is another example of a page strictly for journaling.  I find that it is just as important as the photos…especially if you are not able to take many photos.  We were in the car a lot that day; plus, my teenage son just "loves" it when his mom takes his pictures LOL 

This is the only photo I got of us together LOL  He's over 6 foot tall; I'm 5ft 2 on a good day so you can barely see me.
