Clear Scraps Project Post

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to September! It's time to start creating those fall/harvest projects to enjoy for the next few months. When it comes to creating home decor projects Clear Scraps has so many wood pallets and shapes to chose from. You're sure to find one to suit your taste. 

For today's project I'll be using Clear Scraps Wood shape-jumbo rounded tag Click here

To begin our project, I took and whitewashed some Folk Art Wicker white acrylic paint over the top surface of my wood tag. Then using some Distress Ink Rusty Hinge and a Ink dabber, I lightly brushed the ink over my painted surface. I tore some pieces of paper from Frank Garcia's Autumn Sunset collection and inked along the edges with Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. I cut a strip of paper to fit along the bottom edge of my wood tag. 

Then using Beacon glue, I adhered my papers to my tag surface towards the top and along the bottom edge. Set your tag aside for now 

Next take your wood quotes and add some gold acrylic paint over the top. Let dry.  Cut apart your chipboard oak trees (save the outside frame for a future project) Then using a pouncing motion and a stiff old paintbrush, I applied Finnibair Rust pastes in brown, red and gold over each oak tree shape. I apply the paste in layers, until I achieve the look I want. I painted the tree trucks and branches with brown acrylic paint. Let dry. 

I fussy cut a butterfly from one of my Scrap papers along with a few pumpkin images. I inked around the edges. I bent my butterfly wings slightly upward before gluing on the upper left side.

Now arrange your wood quote towards the center of your tag using Beacon glue.

I adhered the oak trees along the bottom of my tag, right along the top edge of my paper strip. I applied some foam dots to the back of my pumpkin image and adhered in the center between the two trees.

To finish decorating my tag, I added some Prima flowers along the top. Tied a piece of jute cord through the hole at the top. I chose to use a thinner jute cord. But you can certainly use the thicker jute cord included in your bag. I glued a few Prima crystals in scattered places on my tag and some Stickles glitter Diamond on my butterfly wings, birds breaststroke and on the pumpkins!
