Jack-O-Lantern Chipboard Embellishment Layout

Hello friends! Its October and that means Halloween will be here in a few weeks! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for as well as to create crafty projects for! Today, I'm sharing a layout I made using some of the new Chipboard Embellishment Shapes!  I have this adorable photo of my niece and nephew trick or treating from a couple years ago and thought the Jack-o-lantern Chipboard Embellishment Shapes would be a perfect accent!

I began by painting my Jack-o-lanterns with chalk paint in a nice bright orange.

Once they were dry, I covered the entire surface with embossing ink.  I then added a generous amount of embossing powder in a nice bright Holographic color. Once I removed the excess powder, I set with my heat gun.  I repeated these steps on the second Jack-o-lantern and backed each with patterned paper

I wanted to add some dimension to my background next to my photo and secured the 5×9 Circle Dot Mixer Stencil with washi tape.  With a spatula, I  applied a thin layer of modeling paste in a downward motion. I did not worry about my paste being perfect and filling all of the holes.

Once my paste was dry, I placed my stencil over the top of my modeling paste and blended in Distress Oxide Inks (again not worrying about my technique being perfect)

I affixed my Jack-o-lanterns to my page using foam dots and Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive. For this one shown, I added a small amount of Halloween colored bakers twine.

Here are some close ups of the Jack-o-lantern along with the modeling paste + Distress Oxide.   You can also see that I  added splashes of spray ink as well as enamel dot and brads.
