Winter Mixed Layer Tab Album

Hello crafty friends! It's Jennifer here on the blog today to share a mini book I created all about winter!  Cold weather is in full swing here in Central Illinois so I documented photos of my kids from a photo shoot from last winter.  I will have to say I'm not a big fan of the cold but I do love scrapping about it! LOL  For today's project, I used the Mixed Layer Tab Album which consists of five pages of acrylic and chipboard pages!

For my front cover, I used the new Star Tree Chipboard Embellishment Shape. I added a light coat of acrylic paint in white to the surface. I did not worry about whether I had full coverage because I knew I  would be adding other mediums over the top.

Next, I heat set a pretty light glitter blue embossing powder to the top and bottom portions of the tree as shown. Then using my Beacon Adhesive, I added strips of paper in the "bare' portion and cut away any excess with scissors.

I set aside my Tree to work on the front acrylic cover.  Using the 6 Inch Ice Crystals Snowflake Mascil and StazOn Opaque, I lightly daubed the ink onto my acrylic.  This is a great technique to use with any of the StazOn colors and Clear Scraps Mascils/Stencils!

Here is a close up of the Tree Star Chipboard Embellishment on my front cover!  I added some smaller embellishments to accent as well as added ribbon to the top.

The first page is chipboard and I added a 4 1/2 x 7 inch background patterned paper.  For most pages, I used a 4×4 or 4×6 photo.  Here, I created a pocket behind my photo to add some journaling.

A close up of the journaling…this is a great way to hide extra elements in your album!

Here on the backside of my first page, I created a flap with washi tape and a journaling spot over my photo.

I always like adding extra pages to my books! Here, I used a 3×5 inch piece of the Clear Scraps Acrylic Sheet. Using the same Mascil, I  added modeling paste followed by some gorgeous glitter.  Just a fun element to add some shine to album!

Another one of my favorite things to do is get out my Scor-Pal and create folds to add extra journaling or photos.  Here, I created my own waterfall with white cardstock!

Another pocket page with journaling elements tucked inside!

For the last acrylic page, I added some white paint along the edges to give it a "snowy" feel.  I then again used my Scor-Pal to create a flap to add extra photos as well as make a fun page with tags and embellishments!

Here is the inside of the page! I love how it turned out!

And here is the last page which I added more tags from the collection I used!  The last page of the book is a solid piece of chipboard with I covered with back cover with patterned paper.  You can then add chrome book rings or string ribbon through to bind your pages together!
