Spring Has Sprung Home Decor

Hi Craft Friends!

Happy April! Spring is finally here! Where I live winter still wants to stick around. However, we can create spring projects to bring a touch of spring inside our homes.

Today we'll be creating a spring wall decor piece. I'm using Clear Scraps Wood Slimline Deco 5×11 album Click here and Bunny mini pallet shape Click here

We will use 2 total of the wood Slimline album pages (one with a Deco edge and the other long piece) you can save the other album pieces for a future project. The papers I chose to decorate my wood base are from Mintay "Beauty in Bloom" but you can use whatever spring themed papers you have on hand.

To begin take your 2 Wood Deco album pieces and line up your holes with the Deco tab at the top right side, then taking some adhesive tape and Beacon glue, I attached both pieces together. I recommend using a strong permanent glue like Beacon, so your pieces won't come apart. Set aside to dry.

Here's how it looks once glued together:

Now take out your mini Bunny pallet shape from your package. With a paintbrush I mixed some Folkart Conch Shell acrylic paint and Cottage White together and applied over my bunny mini pallet shape. Let dry.

Next taking a die from my stash, (Echo Park's Happy Easter) I diecut out a few tiny bows from scrap paper. I wasn't sure which bow I wanted to use so that's why I diecut more than one. I glued a small pompom on my bunny tail. Set this aside for now. I decided to use a multicolored bow and glued onto my bunny's neck. Then added a blue enamel dot in the center of my bow.

Now take another patterned paper and trace around your wood Slimline Deco piece. Cut it out and line up on your scoreboard and score at 5 & 1/4 inches using your bone folder. Fold and crease.

Using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs, i inked around the edges of my paper. Then using adhesive tape and Beacon glue, adhere your paper to your wood base.

Now we can do some fussycutting and chose what pieces we want to use to decorate our home decor piece. I like to use a variety of embellishments including some sentiments. I inked all my pieces with Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. I like to play around with all my embellishments before adhering them down.

I fussy cut out this floral wreath and using foam dots I adhered on the left side. Then using hot glue I adhered my mini Bunny pallet shape lining up his feet at the bottom edge of my wood piece and partially over the wreath. Here's a closeup!

I adhered one of the chipboard sticker sentiments over the Deco tab at the top. I fussy cut out some florals, bird and bird nest. I added foam dots to the backside if my floral piece. Taking the nest I cut a small slit at the top and tucked my bird's feet inside then glued in place. Here's a photo!

At the bottom left edge I adhered a fussycut element using foam dots. Here's a closeup!

To finish my project, I added acouple more chipboard sticker sentiments at the upper left corner.  I also like to apply a bit of Stickles Stardust glitter to my birds wings and some florals! And attached a metal hanger onto the back of my wood base. Now it's ready to hang and display! Here's my finished piece!
