Summer is here and it's getting me in the mood to work with bright yellows and other bold colors, just like that warm sunshine! Hello everyone, it's Maureen with you today. Have you tried out any projects yet with the 3D Frameables by Clear Scraps? These kits are so easy and make an amazing gift that you can create yourself with little effort! Plus, it's easy on your wallet too!
I had this photo of my college best friends just waiting to get added to a frame, so I decided to work with the Base with Square Frame kit and the Word N Shape Friends and Flower add ons. I really wanted to work with a paper kit that I've had laying around for this project, so I've also chosen a PhotoPlay paper kit with it's bold black and yellow tones.
My first step is to trace out the papers I wanted for the base, and then use a sharp blade to cut out the strips in the middle. These are glued to the top. You can also use decoupage! I've done the same with the frame and glued that on to the front.
Next, I've painted the stem of the flower green, and the back of the frame black, so there is a finished look to the project. For the top of the flower, I've layered 3 levels of a die cut flower in a yellow paper from the paper set I chose. These are given dimension by rolling them with an embossing tool in the middle to allow the leaves to stick out a bit. I finish it off with some black dots using a marker.
For the phrase "friends" I've painted it on both sides in a black acrylic paint. Then, after it was dry, I covered it in white paint dots. I did this using an embossing tool also – these are handy tools to have in your craft room!
My final touches are to add a couple of the sticker embellishments from the set, such as a cute little bee and the phrase on the "friends" sentiment. I believe this is ready for gifting to one of my besties!
What types of homemade gifts do you make? I invite you to check out the ideas we have on our Clear Scraps Pinterest Inspiration board too! Supplies used are below. Thank you for joining me today!
