Summer Fun Memory-Dex Cards

Take me out to the ballgame, it's Summertime!  Hi everyone, and happy fun-in-the-sun season!  It's Maureen and I'm with you today for a creative and simple project, creating Summer themed Memory-Dex cards.  I really love this time of year…it brings such joy to be out enjoying the pool, ballgames and family BBQs.  This project will help you commemorate all those moments!

I am choosing to work with the Tabbed Memory-Dex Dividers and the Hearts Memory-Dex Chipboard Dividers. These are great all-around shapes to create with.  My theme has to do with the popular themes of Summer:  Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet.  I love the items you could put in a box with these themes, celebrating the events of the season.

I've combined an assortment of die cuts and papers for this project.  In fact, this was a great way to clean out some scrap paper!  I just couldn't part with some of the cute patterns so it was the perfect project.

First up, the tabbed dividers.  I wanted these to look like a picnic table since both were a food theme.  I used a gingham die cut in red for the backdrop, and the dividers I traced on some white paper.  These were glued together.

Then, for the pie, I used a die cut from my stash, but used the same die cut to make the buns for the hot dog!  I also had fun using a stitched border die for the mustard.

Next came the heart dividers.  The baseball card is covered in a white card stock, then dusted down the middle for a weathered look.  I then took another border die and made some red zigzags to apply down each side, trimming off the ends.  A final blue heart completes the design where the heart would be on the chipboard.

The other heart is covered with a fun blue plaid, and dusted with ink on the edges.  I had a truck die set in my stash, so I added this to a white heart backdrop, but it is sponged with a brick background in gray.  For this, I'm using the Clear Scraps 4×6 Brick Wall stencil.

All of the cards have titles that I printed on a printer and trimmed to fit.  What an easy afternoon of using up leftover items!

I hope this inspires your Summer crafting this month.  Thanks for joining me, and I'll see you next time!
