Hello Craft Friends!
I'm Dana and today I'll be creating a Summer Home Decor project! Summer is my favorite season of the year! I love to spend time on the beach and listen to the ocean waves!
For this project, I'll be using Clear Scraps Square Shiplap Shape Large Click here and also Clear Scraps Fan Shells Chipboard Embellishments Click here
The papers I chose are from Graphic45 "By the Sea" collection. One of my favorite paper collections. I'll be inking all my papers and fussycut elements using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs.
To begin our project, I took some Finnibair Texture paste White sand and using a palette knife I applied the paste along the bottom palette on my Shiplap shape. Let dry. Using a sponge I applied some tan acrylic paint over the top of the paste. Let dry.
Next from the 12×12 paper "By the Sea" I cut 2 paper strips to measure: 1/2 " x 9 & 3/8. Then I also cut 2 more paper strip measuring 1/2" x 11 &1/2 inches. Be mindful when cutting your strips from this paper since we will be using the center piece for our project. I glued my strips along the top, bottom and sides. Here's a photo!
Be sure to miter your corners as I did here. See photo:
Cutting more strips from this same 12×12 paper I cut 4 more strips (same measurements as before) from the paper "Anchors" miter all corners. See photos:
Set aside your wood piece for now. Take your Fan Shells Chipboard Embellishments and cut apart both shell embellishments. I applied Martha Stewart Fire Opal glitter to the fan shell piece. Set aside to dry throughly. For the other shell I applied some Prima Chalk Ink Dry Sand over top. Let dry. Here's some photos!
While those pieces are drying, I fussycut out some images from various scrap papers. I applied alittle Stickles Stardust glitter on my Conch Shell chipboard embellishment. Here's a photo:
Now take the middle image from your 12×12 By the Sea paper and cut around the iimage of the vintage gal and sentiment By the Sea. Apply foam tape on the back and adhere onto the center of your Shiplap wood square. This will add dimension to your project.
I then arranged my Chipboard Fan Shells Embellishments, and fussycut elements along the bottom of my Shiplap shape. Then glue in place using Beacon glue. I added a sentiment sticker on the upper right corner. Here's some closeups!
To finish my project, I attached a metal hanger on the backside. Now its ready to display!
I hope you enjoyed my project and will create one of your own to display year after year. Be sure to visit the Clear Scraps website Click here to see all the new products available! Thanks for stopping by our blog today.
Until next time we meet, Have a Crafty Day!
