What are your favorite fruits of the Summer? I love Rainier cherries and of course, strawberries! Hi everyone – it's Maureen here and I want to share a really pretty project today using the Memory-Dex collection from Clear Scraps. I also have a fun item I added to this project and that is the Strawberry Mini Shaker Embellishment!
The new line of shakers are adorable! I love this one and decided to change up the bold colors I usually use with a more delicate pink. I'm starting with the Memory-Dex DIY 6" High Back Box for this project. These boxes are so great! They are easy to assemble and hold a ton of cards for a collection. This box comes together with some wood glue, or hot glue if you prefer. Assemble all the joints first.
Next, add in the dowels and secure them with the wood holders at the end. I like to put these on the dowels first, then slide them in the box. Attach with wood or hot glue.
Once your box is ready, trace the edges in some of your favorite patterned paper and cut them out. Adhere each piece on with regular glue, then sand the edges down as needed. I also like to add Distress Ink to the edges for a more weathered appearance. Add your favorite floral die cuts to the side too!
Now we'll work with the Strawberry Mini Shaker. Take the base piece and trace it on your favorite patterned paper, then cut out. Adhere this to the chipboard, then add the middle layers on with glue. Next, fill the cavity with an assortment of shaker filler. I'm using some of the Spring Sequins along with other shaker bits I have at home.
Finish the top off with the acetate layer, remembering to remove the protective film. The top layer is more of the pretty paper and dusted with ink on the edges. And I have cut out a green strawberry top that is stamped with a pattern stamp and attached a flower and sentiment to the front. So cute!!
I wasn't sure yet what dividers to use – perhaps this box will turn into a recipe card holder! For now, I created a strawberry themed divider with the same cute paper collection, using one of the Hearts Chip Dividers. I thought the top looked like strawberries! I've cut 3 strawberry die cut shapes out and covered it with those pieces, along with a striped paper.
Taking the same die cut collection, I've cut strawberry leaves and added the toppers, and a flower to the front. My final touch is to stamp the word "sweet" on the front of the divider.
So – this project is complete, and it is indeed very SWEET. I hope you enjoyed this project today – thanks for joining me!
Maureen
