Hi there everyone! Laura here with you today to share some home decor inspiration!
This is a sweet, simple little project that is quick and easy to make, but is so cool and would also make a great gift! You can personalize the saying to anything you'd like. It starts with one of the Clear Scraps Square Shiplap Shapes Small as the base. It was brushed with a light brown paint, but a stain would work well too. This was nice, but I wanted to step it up a bit to add some texture, so I chose the 5×9" Geo Burst Stencil. This is one of the Clear Scraps Mixer Stencils and you can find them all in the store HERE.
This stencil mimics the curves and notches on the compass really nicely. I centered the stencil on the Shiplap Shape after the paint was dry, and I used a soft brush with dark brown ink to stencil the pattern on. You can see how nicely it frames the compass and yet doesn't take away from it as the centerpiece.
The Clear Scraps Compass Chipboard Embellishments make the perfect addition to this project. It's painted with gray, black and red acrylic paints and then the edges were brushed with a little black ink. This creates a little shading/shadow to make it look a little softer/worn around the edges. It's matted on a set of cardstock squares, with the red being the "grounding color" to match the red dial and carry it all the way through the project. The twine and the center gem give even more texture and depth. A couple of small 1/4" strips of red cardstock, and the blue letters with the saying finish this project off. It's a cute little item I can display as a reminder in my home or give as a gift, to someone who needs a little encouragement.
Thanks for stopping by today!
