From my stash, I found this Distress Mosiac kit from Tim Holtz. I forgot I even still had this in my craft stash. Lol.  Does that happen to you? I thought this would be a cool background design for my fall project. And it's a great way to use up leftover scraps of craft paper.

This kit has 3 steps to follow  and I'll explain in detail how to use it.

To begin I gathered some scrap papers and cut into different shapes and pieces.

Then taking the grout jar #1 I spread the grout over top of my Jumbo wood tag using a palette knife. Let dry for a good 15 minutes.  Do not use a Heat tool to dry or your grout will bubble up. See photo:

Step 2: Using the Distress glue, apply glue onto a small area at a time on your grout surface, using a small paintbrush. Then apply some glue onto the back of each piece of paper tile and press down onto your surface. Leave a small gap between your tile papers. Continue this process until the whole tag is complete. Some pieces of paper I cut down to fit. Let air dry and do not use a heat tool. Maybe 15 minutes? Here's a photo:

I found addictive and time consuming but well worth it.

Step 3: Take your glaze medium and outline each tile piece with your glaze and then fill in until each piece is covered.

Continue this for each tile. Dry time is at least an hour, however I let mine dry overnight.

While drying, we can start creating our Maple Leaf shaker! Remove your shaker pieces from your package. Taking the bottom piece, I traced, cut out and trimmed away any excess paper using my x-acto knife. On the stem I applied some brown ink. I recommend using Beacon glue for adhering your shaker pieces. You want a strong permanent glue so your shaker doesn't fall apart. Clear Scrap Shakers are high quality and easy to assemble.

Next I glued a chipboard Fall in Love jar sentiment in the center of my bottom shaker piece.

Taking my top shaker piece, I applied some copper ink and Clear embossing powder on the top. Then heat embossed.

Now glue your other 2 chipboard shaker pieces on top of your bottom shaker base. Fill your shaker with beads, sequins as I did or any other shaker fillers of your choice.  I didn't add as many sequins this time because i adhered the chipboard sentiment sticker in the center. Take your acrylic piece and peel off the protective film from both sides before gluing in place. Now glue your top shaker piece on top! Set aside to dry throughly before shaking!

I glued my shaker onto my Wood tag centered. Then using foam dots I adhered a ephemera sentiment towards the top.

To finish this project, I tied some jute cord through the hole at the top and glued a flower on top! Here's some closeup photos!
