Hello, Clear Scraps friends! Sarah, here, and I'm back as a guest designer sharing my final and last project for Clear Scraps! Today, I wanted to show off a fun, festive Christmas project I created using the Mini Shaker Bulb. Let’s take a look at how I used this bare embellishment and turned it into a keepsake ornament to enjoy for years to come.
Here’s the bare Mini Shaker Bulb embellishment, not embellished:
I started by tracing my photo around the outline of the bulb ornament to make sure the photo would fit. Then, I cut it out to make sure everything was aligned.
Set your photo aside, and then begin inking all layers and sides of the chipboard embellishment. For this specific ornament, I used a Distress Oxide Ink in the Candied Apple color.
Once the layers are dry, adhere your photo to the solid, bottom layer.
To create the shaker, you have to stack the layers to create depth. Start by adding an adhesive to the edge of the bulb ornament.
Next, add one of the frames on top of your photo.
To create a snow globe effect to my ornament, I embellished it up with a die cut tree. Cut off the excess part of the tree die cut.
Now, for the fun part, add whatever sequins and/or glitter you want to use inside your shaker ornament. I didn’t fill it too much because I wanted my photo to be visible.
Remove the protective film from both sides of the acrylic piece. Once all inner shaker contents are in place, adhere the acrylic piece to secure all of the sequins/glitter. The acrylic piece makes sure that nothing falls out from the inside, so make sure it is nice and secure.
Once the acrylic piece is dry, add the last chipboard layer of the bulb ornament to the top.
I embellished the ornament with various holiday die cuts and labels.
Punch a hole through the top of the shaker to add some ribbons.
With a little bit of ink and some die cut and stickers, I was able to transform this Shaker Bulb Embellishment into a Christmas ornament that I plan to put on our tree this year!
Thanks a ton for taking a look at my project today! I’m thrilled I was able to share some of my creativity with all of you these past three months, and I can’t wait to see what you all make with Clear Scraps.
Until next time,
Sarah.
