Winter Deco Frame

Hello and Happy New Year! Winter is here and I wanted to capture an experience my daughter had when she was younger. We don’t get snow often here in Texas and I loved seeing her face when she enjoyed snow while visiting Minnesota. Using the Wood n word shape and 3d frame I captured this winter moment.

First I painted the wood shape n word and the deco frame with white chalk paint. After it dried I glued the small base to the top of the large base, be sure to line up the slits correctly or you won’t be able to put the frame piece in correctly. Then using Sizzix crystal paste, I covered the snowflake and used it as an adhesive for the bottle brush trees, deer and colored beads. I then covered the rest of the base with the crystal paste to give the frame a “snowy” effect. I sprinkled in some white fine glitter as well. This is optional since the crystal paste has a shiny effect.

While I waited for the paste to dry, I chose a paper to cover the top portion of the frame with. I traced and cut out the frame and using an exacto knife, I cut the center portion out. I adhered the paper portion of the frame to the back portion of the frame (solid wood piece) using foam squares or tape. This allows for a picture to easily slide in and out of the frame.

I then covered the “winter” word with the crystal paste and after it dried I painted it blue. Next I grabbed some winter decor and tied it with a ribbon and glued it to the side of the frame. I glued the snowflake to the top right portion of the frame and finally I added a picture of my daughter in the snow.
