For my project I'll be using the Regular DIY Wood box Click here and Clear Scraps Angle Index Divider Cards Click here
First off, we'll decorate and assemble our Clear Scraps DIY Wood box. The paper theme I chose is Echo Park's "Alice in Wonderland " collection. I adore Alice in Wonderland! But you can choose any theme or papers you have in your crafty stash!
I chose several coordinating papers from this collection and cut them as follows:
Bottom inside base: 6 x 4 3/4 inches
Short sides: cut 2 at 4 & 3/4 x 1 & 3/4 inches
Long sides cut 2: 6 & 1/4 x 1 & 3/4 inches
Adhere your papers to each of the sides and bottom of your box. I trimmed away any excess paper and design along the top using my x-acto knife. I recommend using a strong permanent glue such as Beacon glue, when adhering your papers to the box. Using my Clear Scraps sanding tool Click here I smoothed any rough edges. Then I layed all my wood pieces on my table in order of assembly.
Then glue them in place. I hold the wood piece for a minute or two to get the glue to hold my pieces together. For the inside pieces, slide both wood dowels through the holes, then glue the each end to the front and back in the inside. Here's a photo of how your box should look:
Now you decorate the front, back and sides of your wood box however you like. I like to use ephemera pieces and stickers, adhering some with foam dots. Here's some photos of both sides and the back of my wood box:
Now we are ready to decorate our Divider Cards.
Card 1 front: I adhered an Alice ephemera card as a side pocket and tucked another small ephemera card with the rabbit inside. I applied some Dazzle tiny hearts stickers on the rabbits chest and 3 on my Alice pocket. I thread some pink twine through a pocket watch charm, then glued at the top. Here's a photo:
Card 1 Backside: Taking a butterfly ephemera card and frame, I adhered in the center of my Divider card, using foam dots on the back of my frame to add dimension. Here's a photo:
Card 2 front: I cut out a small journal card from the 6×6 paper pad and score 1/2 inch along the top edge. Then glued at the top to make a flip card. I fussycut the small journal card "it's always time for tea" and adhered on the inside of my flip card using foam dots. I fussycut a few images of the teapot and cups from the 2×12 cover sheet and adhered on my Divider card base. Here's a closeup:
Card 2 Backside: I added a sentiment sticker on the left side and butterfly sticker at the top. I fussycut the Cheshire cart from a scrap paper and adhered with foam dots. Here's a photo:
Card 3 front: I created a pocket measuring 4 x 2 inches. I cut out a few fussycut images from my scraps. Then adhered Alice and the caterpillar with foam dots on the front of my pocket. The Mad Hatter, I tucked inside my pocket. Then applied a "Who Are You" sentiment stickers along the top scattered. Here's a closeup:
Card 3 Backside: I cut 3 small journal cards and scored 3/8 along the top of each journal card and adhered them as a waterfall on my card base. Then applied a few butterfly stickers. Here's a photo:
Now you can slide your cards in place onto the wood dowels. Here's my finished DIY Wood box:
Now we are all done! I think I'll be creating more Divider Cards in different styles and papers. This is a great way to use up all your leftover scraps of paper and embellishments!
